The main objective of this action is to extend the use of EO data in general and specifically Copernicus satellite data and derived information in the public health system, in line with global trends, UN / WHO actions to use space science and technology for global health, as well as the ongoing process of updating the national strategy for space.

The main mechanism to be used for achieving this action’s goals is the dialogue with the appropriate authorities - central (Ministry, National Institute for Public Health, Public Health School) and county - level (public health departments), and NGOs. A positive uptake is expected by successfully involving a large number of organizations and people not involved by now in Copernicus activities and the same time giving more value to Copernicus products not yet assessed in such communities.

The main effort is focused on identifying ways of integrating EO derived information like temperature, dust, wind, precipitation with relevant in-situ data, like census, civil registration and population surveys, in the public health management processes.

Output and Results

• Report on Copernicus EO derived products and their relevance for public health management activities (1 report –the main document to be used for keeping the dialog with the relevant organization at the end of the FPCUP activity)
• Seminar gathering EO and public health experts and conclusion reports (2 seminars and the corresponding 2 reports)
• Conference (supported by World Health Organization) and set of recommendations (1 conference if possible, depending on sanitary restrictions
• Study showing elements and actions to be regulated (1 report containing conclusions presented together with the relevant Copernicus data and services)

Activities will be performed mainly by the Romanian Space Agency and is expected that Ministry of Health and other central and county-level authorities, and sector specific NGOs can fully benefit.
