EU Space Surveillance and Tracking (EU SST) serves as the operational backbone of the EU's approach to Space Traffic Management (STM), as outlined in JOIN(2022)4. Continuous monitoring of space traffic is essential for effective STM operations.

EU SST, with its range of sensors and capabilities, supports the development of European industrial capabilities in two key areas: fostering innovation and enhancing competitiveness of the EU's SST commercial sector, and enhancing and consolidating EU SST autonomy in all orbital zones beyond the existing network of national assets.

To advance these goals, the Commission launched the EU Industry and Start-ups Forum on STM (EISF) together with the EU SST Partnership.
