Aquaculture is widely practised along the northern coast of Vietnam, where sheltered coastal waters provide favourable conditions for marine farming. Near Phong Cốc, in Quảng Ninh Province, extensive aquaculture installations occupy shallow marine areas protected from strong waves and currents.

Acquired on 25 November 2025 by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites, this image shows floating aquaculture platforms appearing as dense, light-coloured linear patterns spread across the bay, with water in bright blue, vegetation in vivid green, and built-up or exposed surfaces in pale grey and pink tones.

Copernicus Sentinel-2 data help track the growth of aquaculture, changes in shoreline habitats, and pressures on wetlands, supporting improved coastal planning, erosion monitoring, ecosystem conservation, and sustainable water management.
