Saharan dust reaches Italy
This image, acquired by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-3 satellites on 20 June 2023, shows plumes of Saharan dust reaching Western Italy as the first summer heatwave hits the country. The dust will affect most of the peninsula, causing skies to appear yellowish or milky.
The Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) tracks all stages of dust transport from the Sahara Desert throughout the year, monitoring and forecasting air quality.
