Beginning on 6 October 2025, severe flooding swept through parts of northern Vietnam, reaching the highest water levels recorded in three major rivers in the past 40 years. The floods have resulted in at least eight casualties and forced the evacuation of many residents across the region. According to local authorities, around 30,000 personnel have been deployed to carry out emergency response operations.

This Copernicus Sentinel-2 image, acquired on 9 October, shows extensive flooding along the river near Thái Nguyên, where the Cầu River rose over a metre above the previous record set in September 2024.

Open data from the Copernicus Services and Sentinel satellites provides reliable monitoring of global flooding events. This information supports response and recovery operations to keep affected communities safer.
