On October 14th, 2023, a solar eclipse was observed in the Americas. This rare celestial event happens when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, causing the latter to be obscured.

The eclipse started at 15:03 UTC and at 16:25 UTC, the Copernicus Sentinel-3A satellite captured this unique image of the shadow of the Moon projected over the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. During the eclipse, the Earth's surface appeared black, which can be seen in the centre of the image.
