On 27 January 2025, Storm Herminia struck parts of Spain, Portugal, France, the UK, and Ireland. In western France, the storm led to severe flooding in regions such as Normandy and Brittany, affecting road conditions and rail services. The national meteorological service issued warnings for flash floods as rivers and streams overflowed. In Rennes, approximately 400 residents were evacuated due to the city's worst flooding in over 40 years.

This image, obtained using the radar data of Copernicus Sentinel-1, shows the flooded areas south and east of Rennes on 27 January 2025.

The Copernicus Services and Sentinel satellites deliver reliable monitoring of flooding events and their consequences, helping to inform response and recovery operations.
