The event will showcase practical applications such as environmental monitoring, drought assessment, and flood analysis using satellite data. It aims to promote the use of Copernicus Earth observation data to support sustainable management and innovation in the region.

On April 7, 2025, the Centre for Space Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CBK PAN) together with the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography (IGiK) will host an online seminar titled "Use of Copernicus Programme Data – Services and Applications in the Baltic Sea Basin." The event, conducted in Polish and open to all upon registration, will showcase how satellite data from the European Copernicus Programme supports environmental monitoring, agricultural drought assessment, flood analysis, and other applications relevant to the Baltic Sea catchment area.

The seminar program includes expert presentations on satellite imagery accessibility, land cover mapping, soil moisture estimation using Sentinel-1 radar data, drought monitoring platforms, and real-time snow cover services. The event aims to promote the practical use of Copernicus Earth observation data to enhance environmental management and decision-making in the Baltic region.

This seminar is part of the European Union’s Caroline Herschel Framework Partnership Agreement on Copernicus User Uptake project, supporting open data frameworks and user engagement across the Baltic Sea drainage basin.

For registration and detailed agenda, interested participants can visit the CBK PAN website.

This event highlights the growing importance of Copernicus satellite data in fostering sustainable development and innovation in the Baltic Sea region.
