Participation record for feedback survey on Seamless Web

The FPCUP project Seamless Web aimed to set up a user-friendly seamless web information portal for national downstream products focusing on German users. This internet portal, available on the DWD Website, offers different types of climatic predictions (provided amongst others by Copernicus Climate Change Service C3S) on different time scales in a uniform and seamless form. The aim is to enable especially national users to receive the climate information needed directly from the web portal and provide a national implementation of Copernicus Climate Change Services.

User communication has been deepened via the yearly user workshop, which has grown from ~30 to over 250 participants during the FPCUP action, but also via annual surveys. These surveys permit to evaluate the website and its content and to gain more information on user’s needs and preferences.

The 2024 survey established a new participation record. It did not only reach the regular users of the climate prediction website, but also new users, who could provide new insights and fresh ideas about the content and the presentation of the website. 69 % of the participants were very satisfied or rather satisfied with the climate prediction website. The feedback was mostly positive, but we also gained some suggestions for improvement. Some users generally asked for more explanations and other variables, some had very specific ideas on individual products. Many users showed great interest in more data and figures.
