International cooperation in maritime surveillance brings significant benefits by enabling the sharing of costs, resources, and expertise among actors. Bilateral or multilateral approaches, coordinated through specialized organizations or programs, allow for collaborative and focused efforts to address common challenges. The Comprehensive Maritime Surveillance (CMS) service supports relevant international organizations, providing a range of data and services tailored to their specific needs. This includes image products from earth observation satellites, both SAR and optical sensors, as well as value-added products like vessel detection and classification using automatic algorithms and vessel position reports.
