Mayon Volcano, located in Albay Province, the Philippines, has remained in a state of eruptive unrest since 6 January 2026. In July, activity included lava effusion, rockfalls, volcanic gas emissions, and minor eruptions at the summit crater. On 31 July, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that Mayon Volcano had been in an effusive eruption phase for 206 consecutive days. Alert Level 3 remained in effect.

Acquired on 17 July 2026 by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites, this false-colour image highlights the thermal anomaly associated with an incandescent lava flow extending 2 kilometres from the summit towards the southern flank. Dark lava deposits are visible around the crater and along the slopes, while extensive cloud cover partly obscures the summit’s eastern side. Vegetation appears in green. 

Copernicus Sentinel-2 imagery supports the monitoring of active volcanoes by providing information on lava flows, surface changes, and affected areas.
