Online guest lectures on urbanization and migration in West Africa
Within the FPCUP Action 2019-2-11 “Downstream service/application development for monitoring of environmental indicators (Africa)”, and as part of the networking activities with African countries, DLR was invited to give guest lectures at Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria by Prof A. A. Okhimamhe, Professor of Geography and Director of the Doctoral Research Programme on Climate Change and Human Habitat, West African Centre for Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL).
Colleagues from DLR gave three lectures (see list below) of two hours on the topic of urbanization and migration and how remote sensing contributes to their study. In this context, a special focus was given on Copernicus products, such as Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 satellite imagery, and Western African countries.

The lectures had an average number of 25 attendees, both master students and PhD candidates. After the presentations the participants were invited to raise their questions related to their research and the given lecture.
