Scaling EO processing workflows with openEO in CDSE - webinar on 19 May 2026, 17:00 - 18:00 CEST

Join our webinar to explore how openEO enables operational Earth Observation (EO) at scale within the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem (CDSE).

Earth Observation (EO) data plays a crucial role in environmental monitoring research and applications, enabling informed decision-making. Yet users often face challenges accessing and processing data distributed across multiple sources, formats, and infrastructures, making it difficult to build scalable solutions.

To address these challenges, the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem (CDSE) was introduced as a centralised hub that provides free, harmonised access to a wide range of EO data and products, including but not limited to Copernicus datasets. Along with data access, CDSE also offers multiple cloud-native tools and APIs; amongst these, openEO is the key API for data access and processing.

OpenEO is the key API, offering a community-driven standard that provides unified data access and simplifies processing workflows as scalable, cost-efficient services. It bridges the gap between users and cloud infrastructure, enabling developers, researchers, and data scientists to address complex geospatial challenges through a standardised interface without managing the underlying infrastructure.

Why join the webinar

This webinar demonstrates how openEO enables operational Earth Observation at scale.  We will explore cloud-native processing workflows, job orchestration strategies for large spatiotemporal extents, and how to leverage CDSE's infrastructure to scale resources efficiently.

By the end of the webinar, participants will know how openEO simplifies access to distributed EO data, how CDSE enables true scalability, practical patterns for orchestrating large-scale processing, and how to implement reproducible, cost-efficient Earth Observation workflows.

Presenter: Victor Verhaert is a Remote Sensing Data Engineer at VITO. He has been supporting the scale-up of processing for various projects, such as Global Sentinel-1 data extractions and the pan-European EU Grasslandwatch products, using openEO.
