In-Orbit Demonstration and Validation

Demonstrating innovative technologies in space is essential for advancing scientific, public, and commercial applications. Through In-Orbit Demonstration/Validation (IOD/IOV) services, the EU enables academia, SMEs, and industry to test new technologies in orbit, providing flight heritage that accelerates time to market. As part of the CASSINI initiative, the European Commission supports start-ups, fosters scientific excellence, and contributes to the EU space skills agenda by exposing students to real satellite design, testing, and operations.
