Berlin hosts the 100th edition of the Green Week
Renowned for its extensive network of parks, forests, lakes, and rivers, Berlin, the capital of Germany, is considered one of Europe’s greenest capitals, with almost half of its territory covered by green and blue spaces. The city appears under a blanket of snow in this Copernicus Sentinel-2 image, acquired on 7 January 2026.
From 16 to 25 January 2026, Berlin is hosting the International Green Week, marking 100 years since the event was first held in the city. The European Commission is taking part in the event, giving visitors an opportunity to explore how EU policies and technologies support a fair, competitive, and sustainable agricultural sector.
In this context, Copernicus satellite data supports the monitoring of environmental conditions, helping to inform evidence-based decision-making for sustainable urban and land management.
