Gdańsk is a coastal city in northern Poland, situated on the southern edge of the Baltic Sea where the Motława River meets the Gulf of Gdańsk. Its strategic location has made it a key seaport for centuries, contributing to its historical importance as a centre of trade and commerce in the Hanseatic League. The nearby Vistula River delta adds to the region's distinctive geography, creating fertile lands and a network of waterways which have shaped the development of Gdańsk.

Gdańsk is visible in this image acquired by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites on 8 May 2025.
