Extensive flooding swept across Panay Island in the Philippines following heavy rains from Tropical Storm Ramil on 18 October 2025. The storm brought record-breaking rainfall, with Roxas City receiving up to 365.5 mm in just 24 hours – more than a month's worth of precipitation in a single day. According to local authorities, over 170,000 individuals across the Western Visayas region have been affected.

This false-colour image, acquired by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites on 20 October 2025, highlights widespread flooding in the Panay River basin. Flooded areas, shown in blue, extend beyond the riverbanks and into populated areas.

Open data from the Sentinel satellites provides reliable monitoring of flooding events, helping to inform local response and recovery operations.
