Hamina is a fortress town in southeastern Finland, known for its unique circular layout with the Town Hall positioned at its centre. Located nearby, on Finland’s southern coast, the Port of Hamina serves as the country’s leading port for the wood processing industry. While Hamina Port covers a total concession area of over 240,000 m2, it is part of the larger Port of HaminaKotka, which spans over 1,100 hectares on the shores of the Gulf of Finland.

This image, acquired by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites on 5 September 2024, shows the town of Hamina and the Hamina Port from above.

The Copernicus Sentinel satellites deliver both radar and optical data which is essential for maritime surveillance around the world. This information can inform strategies and decision-making for safer and more efficient transportation.
