Monthly Antarctic Sea Ice in 2023
The Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) has just released its annual climate summary for 2023.
These data visualisations, based on CS3 and the EUMETSAT’s Ocean and Sea Ice Satellite Application Facility (OSISAF) data, illustrate the monthly sea ice extent around Antarctica in 2023.
It reached an all-time minimum extent in February 2023 (33% below the 1991-2020 average) and recorded lower than average extents for the corresponding time of the year in 8 months.
