The Philippines also reckon with the climate crisis
The Philippines has faced several heat waves and a severe drought in recent months.
The Pantabangan Reservoir, one of the country's largest, has reached critical levels. As seen in this image captured by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites on 6 May, the water level has dropped 26 metres this year alone, exposing the ruins of a centuries-old city that had been submerged since the 1970s as as result of the dam's construction.
The Copernicus Emergency Management Service runs the Global Drought Observatory, which provides information on the state of drought in South America. Additional information is available here.
