Singapore, a densely populated island city-state, is celebrated for its innovative urban planning, green spaces, and efforts to balance rapid development with environmental sustainability.

Singapore is redefining mental health tourism with its innovative therapeutic gardens, which provide serene spaces to help sooth various conditions. By 2030, the number of these free, accessible gardens in the city-state is expected to increase from 16 to 30. The new gardens are being designed in collaboration with neuroscientists and psychologists who have studied the brain activity of 92 visitors to Singapore’s first therapeutic garden, HortPark.

Singapore is visible in this Copernicus Sentinel-2 image acquired on 14 May 2024.

Open data from the Copernicus Sentinel satellites supports authorities in monitoring environmental factors affecting physical and mental health, providing valuable insights for their activities.
