Wildfires in Paraguay
In Paraguay, more than 100 forest fires have broken out amid a heatwave. The fires have devastated large areas and caused significant environmental damage. Authorities are working to contain the fires and prevent further destruction, but the situation remains challenging due to extreme weather conditions. The fires have raised concerns about air quality and the safety of nearby communities.
This Sentinel-2 image from 16 March shows the burn scar and smoke plume from one of the wildfires.
The #Copernicus Sentinel satellites provide important data for fire prevention and preparedness, supporting the development of early warning systems and fire risk assessments.
