Gribskov, or ‘Grib Forest’, is the fourth-largest forest in Denmark, covering an area of over 5,500 hectares. This lush woodland is renowned for its diverse ecosystems, including lakes, bogs, and meadows, which provide essential habitats for diverse flora and fauna. As a Natura 2000 site, operations to preserve Gribskov are key to protecting species such as the osprey, sea eagle, and fallow deer.

Gribskov and the adjacent Lake Esrum are visible in this image acquired on 2 October 2024 by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites.

Open data from the Copernicus Sentinel satellites helps to monitor important ecosystems around the world, helping to ensure that their wildlife and unique environmental characteristics are well preserved.
