Little Danube, Slovakia
This false colour Copernicus Sentinel-2 image, acquired on 5 February 2025, shows the meandering course of the Little Danube in Slovakia.
The 126.6 km-long Little Danube is a tributary of the Danube river. It branches off in Bratislava, then flows through a patchwork of agricultural fields and small towns such as Bernolákovo, Tomášov, and Hrubý Šúr, before flowing into the Váh river in Kolárovo. It carves a winding path across the landscape, creating a diverse ecosystem. This region, part of the fertile Danubian Lowlands, is significant for both its natural beauty and economic importance.
Data from the Copernicus Sentinel satellites is key to monitoring bodies of water around the world, providing important information for their conservation and sustainable management.
