Earth Observation | Copernicus

4-hour online training on the use of Copernicus for Flood and Drought Management with a focus on African countries

More than 80 participants attended the training event, most of which dialed in from Africa. After an introduction to the Copernicus programme, the focus was on using the Copernicus Global Drought Observatory (GDO) for drought management, and the Copernicus Global Flood Alert System (GloFAS) for flood management. During the training, live demonstrations of the applications were conducted by the University of Bonn . It was also shown how data from GDO and GloFAS can easily be used within QGIS, so that additional analyses can be made and geospatial data from other sources can be combined with the information taken from Copernicus.
