Secure Connectivity | IRIS² and GOVSATCOM

From helping you to message friends to supporting humanitarian actors in the midst of a crisis operation, secured connectivity and internet access has become essential for much of our lives. EU Space features two satellite communication components to secure that necessity for everyone: IRIS² and GOVSATCOM.

Secure Connectivity in a nutshell

Despite the internet's widespread use, many regions still lack infrastructure and reliable connectivity infrastructure. At the same time, the risk of malicious attacks on our networks continues to grow.

Together, GOVSATCOM and IRIS² provide solutions to these issues. GOVSATCOM establishes a common marketplace for secure governmental communication services, while IRIS² builds on this foundation to deliver improved, secure connectivity for governments, businesses, and individual users alike.

Infrastructure for Resilience, Interconnectivity and Security by Satellite (IRIS²)

IRIS² - the Infrastructure for Resilience, Interconnectivity, and Security by Satellite - is the EU's upcoming secure communication system. It will eliminate digital dead zones in Europe and beyond, and deliver broadband connectivity. It will also provide secured communication for authorized users.
