Final Country Report - Spain

The action " COPERNICUS FOR MARINE SPATIAL PLANNING AND EU DIRECTIVES" analysed how Copernicus Marine Services can contribute to the effective implementation of EU Marine Directives by:

1. reviewing national applications of MSFD and MSP;
2. identifying data gaps and stakeholder needs through a national survey;
3. contrasting these needs with Copernicus capabilities in a stakeholder round-table; and
4. applying Copernicus datasets to generate suitability maps for renewable energy and aquaculture in the Gulf of Lion.

The outcomes provide lessons learnt, recommendations for national authorities, and guidance for improving Copernicus uptake in marine governance and planning.
