The 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milano and Cortina, Italy
Italy will host the Olympic Winter Games from 6 to 22 February 2026, welcoming athletes, officials, and spectators from around the world.
These Copernicus Sentinel-2 images, acquired on 13 December 2025 and 1 February 2026, respectively, show the city of Milano and the winter landscapes of Cortina d’Ampezzo in the Dolomites mountain range. Both locations will serve as headquarters of the Games.
The 2026 Olympic Winter Games place a strong emphasis on sustainability, legacy, and innovation. Organisers aim to reduce environmental impact by reusing existing venues while revitalising local communities and promoting tourism across the alpine region. Copernicus Earth Observation data support these long-term sustainability goals by helping to monitor environmental conditions and assess human impacts.
