The water levels of Puente Nuevo Reservoir, at worrisome levels
The Puente Nuevo reservoir is a significant source of water supply for the city of Cordoba in Andalucía. Even though the drought situation in Spain has improved, some of its reservoirs are still at very low levels. According to the Guadalquivir Hydrographic Confederation, the water level in this reservoir is currently only at 10.8% of its total capacity.
On this image acquired by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites on 10 October, the lack of water in the Puente Nuevo Reservoir can clearly be seen.
Copernicus enables drought monitoring by providing satellite data and Earth Observation information that can assess various drought indicators such as soil moisture, vegetation health, and water availability.
