Fostering Blue and Green Growth in Western Africa with Earth Observation: Engaging people and economic regional actors in Copernicus uptake
10 European SMEs were invited to attend and present their work at the event “Fostering Blue and Green Growth in Western Africa with Earth Observation: Engaging people and economic regional actors in Copernicus uptake” which took place on July 18th and 19th 2023. in Cidade da Praia, Cape Verde.
The AD AIR Centre with the collaboration of the local partner NOSI and in partnership with Portuguese Space Agency, organized this workshop aimed to enhance use and of Copernicus data and products by engaging SMEs, but also people, stakeholders, economic actors, and local authorities. Located in Western Africa, Cape Verde is an emerging economy with a lot of potential users of EO products and services benefiting from the attractive market for remote sensing technologies of the region.
The Workshop featured:
- A session dedicated to Copernicus private sector opportunities with pitches from 12 Cape Verdean and European SMEs
- Session on Copernicus Marine Services: User Cases and Best Practices with the participation of Mercator Ocean, CMEMS entrusted entity.
- Awareness and uptake of Copernicus data session on Ports and Harbours, Aquaculture and Fisheries
