The Marsabit National Park, Kenya
The Marsabit National Park is a remarkable oasis of biodiversity located in northern Kenya, approximately 560 kilometres north of Nairobi, near the town of Marsabit. Established in 1949, the park encompasses an area of over 1,550 square kilometres, featuring dense montane forests, extinct volcanic craters, and crater lakes which provide vital habitats for a diverse array of wildlife including elephants, giraffes, and lions.
This image, acquired by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites on 26 February 2025, shows the unique geographical features of the Marsabit National Park as well as the nearby town of Marsabit.
