The Tihany Peninsula, Hungary
Located on the northern shore of Lake Balaton, the Tihany Peninsula is one of the most iconic natural and cultural landmarks in Hungary. Protected as part of the Balaton Uplands National Park, it is renowned for its ancient volcanic landscape, scenic lavender fields, and the historic Benedictine Abbey founded in 1055. The peninsula also features rare wetlands and caldera lakes which support rich biodiversity, including numerous bird species and aquatic life.
