Wildfire near Bizanet, France
On 29 June 2025, a wildfire broke out near the Bizanet commune in the department of Aude in south-western France. The fire was intensified by the dry conditions in the region following a heatwave which affected much of Europe.
The blaze, which burned around 400 hectares of land, led to road closures and the evacuation of nearby residents. More than 600 firefighters were deployed to combat the fire, which was contained on 30 June.
