Hurricane Erick made landfall in Mexico
Erick formed in the Pacific Ocean on 17 June 2025, rapidly intensifying to a Category 4 hurricane offshore, with winds reaching up to 230 km/h. Shortly before making landfall, it weakened to a Category 3 storm. On 19 June, it struck the Mexican coast near Pinotepa Nacional, in the state of Oaxaca, with wind speeds around 200 km/h. Despite weakening before making landfall, the storm brought torrential rainfall and storm surges and led to one casualty.
