“Yellow Fire” scorches northwestern Texas, USA
The “Yellow Fire”, which occurred in northwestern Texas in early March 2026, marked one of the first major wildfires of the year in the United States. During the response effort, local authorities issued evacuation orders for several areas and closed numerous roads to ensure public safety and support containment operations.
The burn scar caused by the fire, which affected more than 5,000 hectares, is visible in this image, acquired by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites on 15 March 2026.
